Vertical Stripes? Get real. Horizontal stripes are the way to go.
Vertical and horizontal stripes… which one to wear? Well apparently a lot of people don’t know what direction of the stripes even does! A lot—if not all—wear vertical stripes because they think it makes them look taller. They wear vertical because it makes their torso look longer. These are just some reasons people create to wear vertical stripes.
Those are both wrong and bad. It does not make you look taller though it DOES make your torso look longer. However, is a longer looking torso what you want? No its not. In reality longer looking legs are more attractive. The ideal ratio for body to legs is 1:1.4(body:legs) for women and 1:1.2(body:legs) for men. Now when you wear these vertical stripes, it makes your body look longer which is what you DON’T want because it makes the legs look shorter which is a NO-NO.
Now on to horizontal stripes. These direction of stripes will make your legs look longer. It does that by making the body look shorter than it actually is (yay). Its simple the illusion of the horizontal stripes that make it so. Also because it makes the torso looks much shorter, it will make you look taller! It does this by making your legs look longer therefore creating the illusion of looking taller.
There are exceptions to the No to Vertical. The exception are only for men though. Those are the suits they wear that have vertical lines on them. Though I have to say those don’t look too good in my opinion =/
